Matthew Kaestner
As a Long Beach attorney, criminal law specialist, Matthew G. Kaestner, brings over 25 years of criminal law experience to the aggressive defense of every case. After graduating law school, with “High Honors” in trial practice, Mr. Kaestner passed the bar exam immediately thereafter and assumed a position with the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. After three years as a prosecutor, Mr. Kaestner began his career as a defender of person’s accused of crimes.
During his career, Mr. Kaestner has honed skills as a trial lawyer while widening his breath of knowledge in all aspects of criminal law. He has defended cases involving multi-kilo drug seizures, wiretaps, conspiracies, and special circumstance murder.
Mr. Kaestner was one of the first lawyers to successfully seek a reversal of a criminal conviction in the Rampart scandal. Mr. Kaestner has, in the last five years, obtained an acquittal or dismissal in four murder cases. Other recent acquittals or dismissals have included charges of domestic violence, petty theft, drunk in public, resisting arrest, felony assault, drug possession and many others.
After 15 years of criminal law experience, Mr. Kaestner obtained certification as a criminal law specialist in California in 1999. As of February, 2010, only 357 of the over 150,000 active California lawyers are certified criminal law specialists. Mr. Kaestner continues to believe that no criminal law case is too large or too small to receive aggressive, intelligent and complete defense.
Attorney Kaestner has made a career out of personally handling all aspects of his client's cases from the initial consultation through trial. Mr. Kaestner will not allow an inexperienced associate or paralegal to handle any aspect of a client's case.
